Tye Felhaber is one of those players that you just want to cheer for. Felhaber has ground his way up to the NHL all the way from the ECHL. He made such an impact with the Colorado Eagles early this last season that the Colorado Avalanche re-signed him to a two-way contract.

Felhaber only saw action in five games with the Avalanche, making his NHL debut on December 16, 2024 in Vancouver. In a rare moment, the cameras caught Felhaber on the bench before the game β€œjust taking it all in.” The Ontario native usually got less than 10 minutes of ice time with the Avalanche and registered only two total shots on goal.

With the Colorado Eagles, Felhaber had a completely different type of impact. He was the player that teams adjusted to play against when he was on the ice. The speedy winger had career highs for the AHL in every category. In 67 games played, Felhaber had 22 goals and 22 assists and added another eight points in nine playoff appearances.

Head coach Aaron Schneekloth had Felhaber play on every single line to start the year. But by the end of the season, Felhaber was playing consistent top-line minutes. He could play in every situation from even strength to power play to penalty kill. The 26-year-old was just happy to be there. There was never a dull moment in the hallways at Blue Arena with Felhaber, even after a rare loss. He would always show his toothless smile and bring a positive view to the game.

Felhaber admitted to not having the strongest shot at one point, but as long as it got there, that is all that mattered. Felhaber will play out the second year of his two-year, two-year contract. After next season, he will be an unrestricted free agent.
