Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) announced that it will make significant upgrades to Ball Arena. The arena, which is home to the Denver Nuggets, Coloardo Avalanche, and Colorado Mammoth with receive $135 million in upgrades throughout the facility. The upgrades will help make the venue more comfortable for fans and more accessible.
Updates will include an expansion of the East Atrium that leads out to Downtown Denver. It also includes a new glass façade, new escalators, and a new team shop; widening of ingress, egress, and concourses to eliminate congestion in the busiest areas.
“When we acquired the Nuggets, Avalanche, and the Arena, we committed to developing winning teams and to supporting the City of Denver,” said KSE Founder, Owner, and Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke. “The renovated Ball Arena and the subsequent redevelopment of the surrounding land allow us to keep doing both for another 25 years and beyond.”
Other renovations will include updates to the luxury suites in the 100-level in the lower bowl and 200-level. Fans saw the introduction of $5 Fan-Friendly concessions menu and the Local Eats program. It featured popular locally owned and operated restaurants and vendors. Food quickly sold out every game, with fans lining up down the hall early in the game to take advantage of the lower prices.
“It’s an honor when you get to reimagine a venue that means so much to so many,” added Josh Kroenke. “Everyone will still recognize this as the site of some of their most cherished memories, but with the amenities, conveniences, technology, and aesthetics of a brand new building.”
Ball Arena is going to be the heart of KSE’s 55-acre property. The property is expected to include a hotels, an entertainment venue, a central park, shopping, dining, residential, and office towers. Eventually, the project will include a new practice facility for the Avalanche, replacing Family Sports Center.
The project will be executed in phases to minimize the impact to fans. Completion expected in time for the 2028–2029 seasons. A required Site Development Plan will be submitted to the City of Denver today.
Ball Arena, which has been in use since 1999, will now extend its life indefinitely. The Avalanche and Nuggets are both commited to staying in the city through 2050. KSE has been doing everything they can to not only make the teams competitive, but the arena as well.
