The start of the Colorado Eagles’ season is right around the corner. After a stunted playoff run in a hard battle against the Abbotsford Canucks (VAN) to end the 2024–2025 season, the expected performance heavily relies on big names and newcomers alike.
Trent Miner
For the 2024–2025 season, goaltending was a sore subject in the Colorado Avalanche system. But the Eagles seemed to miss much of the negative discourse, largely thanks to Miner’s solid performance through the season. He posted a final save percentage of .918% and a 2.12 GAA.
His stellar display in his 38 games in the crease earned him a contract extension, and it was well-earned.
During the heartbreaking playoff run, he stayed steady in the net and bailed Colorado out of several dangerous situations.

Though there are several goaltenders moving through the Avalanche system in the near future, it will be interesting to see where Miner ends up in the shuffle. For now, his steadiness on the roster is something to look forward to.
Jayson Megna
As the captain of the Colorado Eagles also in his last contracted year, Megna brings a calmness to the ice to complement his offensive capability.
The seasoned forward notched 19 goals and 32 assists last season. While he may not improve these numbers, he is likely to maintain them.
With the Providence Bruins (BOS) in 2023–2024, he put up 19 goals and 37 assists. The consistency will be invaluable to Colorado this season. A team of mediocre players surrounding one superstar leaves a vulnerability for a consistent team throughout the roster to exploit.
Taylor Makar
Colorado knows the Makar name well. Older brother Cale Makar is a superstar on the NHL affiliate of the Eagles, the Colorado Avalanche. However, Taylor himself will likely be a powerful player.
Despite playing only a few games as he completed college, the 2021 draftee is expected to make a tremendous impact based on his collegiate stats.
The University of Maine alum racked up 18 goals and 12 assists in his final NCAA season and added one goal in his five AHL appearances.

His entry-level contract will expire at the end of the season and leaves room for extension starting in 2026–2027.
With all Eagles players bringing something to the table, the team will undoubtedly have a successful showing come the start of the season.
