The Colorado Avalanche play in the second leg of a back-to-back by hosting the St. Louis Blues at Ball Arena for some Sunday night hockey. It is also the first leg of a home-and-home between the two sides.
Both games will wrap up the season series for the Central Division foes. They last met on New Year’s Eve, with Valeri Nichushkin recording a hat-trick in the massive win.
Colorado Avalanche (50–15–10, 110 pts)
Colorado recorded 50 wins and eclipsed 110 points with their most recent win, and it was a big one. They beat the Dallas Stars 2–0 in regulation on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The victory propelled the Avs to the brink of clinching the division. An eight-point advantage over Dallas with just seven games to go sees Colorado needing just two points to claim the division and Western Conference.

They did this without Nicolas Roy and Cale Makar, and neither will be an option on Sunday either. Nathan MacKinnon and his 51st goal will be looking for a new career high in a division-clinching win on home ice.

St. Louis Blues (32–31–12, 76 pts)
The Blues come in more rested than Colorado, having last played on Friday night. They had a big win of their own over the Anaheim Ducks, 6–2, on the road.
The victory saw them move closer to being a possible playoff spot stealer. All of a sudden, in a down year, they are just three points out of the final wild card spot.
With just two weeks to go, every point is important for them. A big win over Colorado will make them feel more confident in their ability to reach the postseason and compete with the top dog.
