Colorado Avalanche (43–10–9, 95 pts)
The Avalanche pulled out their second nail-biter in a row on Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Wild. In what turned out to be the epic return of forward Nazem Kadri, Colorado won in a shootout 3–2. Kadri assisted on Nathan MacKinnon’s goal to a roaring crowd when his name was called in the arena. Kirill Kaprizov and old friend Nico Sturm put the Wild ahead early in the third period. Recent addition Nic Roy helped bring the game back to even, scoring his first in just his second game. The game was tense throughout the overtime period when MacKinnon incurred an interference penalty, putting the Avs down a man. Once again. Valeri Nichushkin hit the back of the net in the shootout. But MacKinnon redeemed himself with the game-winning shot in the shootout.
