The Colorado Avalanche will wrap up the 2025 calendar year with a New Year’s Eve matchup against the St. Louis Blues. The team has its eyes set on a historic year while keeping its hot start to the season going.
This game against the Blues is the first of the season. Last season, St. Louis prevailed over Colorado in three out of four games, but it will be hard to do it again this year.
Colorado Avalanche (29–2–7, 65 pts)
Colorado keeps on rolling, as they took down the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night in a 5–2 final. Despite the scoreline, it was not a pretty game once again.
But the positives from playing a not-so-good game don’t matter, as they are still getting wins and putting up points. Nathan MacKinnon continued his dominance with two points, while Brock Nelson had two points of his own, now recording six points in four games.

On the backend, Sam Girard has four points in as many games as do Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin. Nonetheless, it’s all systems go for Colorado. They will look to end the year with only two regulation losses and an overall record of 58–18–13 in 2025.
Projected Lines
Gabriel Landeskog – Nathan MacKinnon – Martin Necas
Artturi Lehkonen – Brock Nelson – Valeri Nichushkin
Ross Colton – Jack Drury – Victor Olofsson
Joel Kiviranta – Parker Kelly – Gavin Brindley
Devon Toews – Cale Makar
Josh Manson – Brent Burns
Samuel Girard – Sam Malinski
Mackenzie Blackwood

St. Louis Blues (15–17–8, 38 pts)
St. Louis ran into a red-hot Buffalo Sabres team on Monday night and couldn’t stop a ninth straight victory for the Western New York squad. The Blues lost in their last home game of 2025, 4–2.
St. Louis has been led by Robert Thomas in scoring, having 29 points in 36 games. But leading goal scorers include defenseman Justin Faulk and forward Jake Neighbours. In 40 and 28 games respectively, they’ve each scored 10 goals.
They’ve gone 4–5–1 in their last 10 games, not having much success climbing up the ladder in the gauntlet that is the Central Division. But if Olympic-hopeful goaltender Jordan Binnington turns back the clock, he could stonewall the Avalanche as he has done before.
Projected Lines
Jonatan Berggren – Robert Thomas – Pavel Buchnevich
Jake Neighbours – Brayden Schenn – Jimmy Snuggerud
Otto Stenberg – Dalibor Dvorsky – Jordan Kyrou
Alexey Toropchenko – Oskar Sundqvist – Robby Fabbri
Philip Broberg – Colton Parayko
Tyler Tucker – Justin Faulk
Cam Fowler – Matthew Kessel
Jordan Binnington
