On Saturday morning, the Colorado Avalanche can rebound against the New York Rangers. New York has a home record of 3–8–1 this season, giving a chance for an angry Avalanche to head down the mountain. Colorado did not play their best game on Thursday, suffering only their second regulation loss this season. The last time the Avs lost a game, they went on a 13-game winning streak if the game did not go beyond regulation. So, if the Avs can push the pace in three periods, based on their history this season, they should have the win. On Friday night, as the Colorado Eagles began their game, Tristen Nielsen was recalled to the Avalanche. As of right now, it is unclear if it is because of injury or illness.

Colorado Avalanche (18–2–6 44pts)
For the second time in 27 games, the Avalanche lost in regulation. Colorado suffered a 6–3 loss to the New York Islanders Thursday night. Colorado had a tough time getting together after the first goal by New York. It led to a challenge for goaltender interference that failed, and the momentum swung the Islanders’ way. The Avalanche’s power play has become an issue of late as they went 0/3 for the night. They now have a success rate of just 7.5 percent on the road. Because of a back injury, Scott Wedgewood will remain unavailable, resulting in the Colorado Eagles’ call-up of Kyle Keyser from the Utah Grizzlies. Trent Miner will serve as the backup against the Rangers on Saturday morning.

New York Rangers (15–12–2 32pts)
The Rangers remain one of the NHL’s biggest mysteries. They have only three wins at Madison Square Garden all season long, winning most of their games on the road. On Thursday, they battled the Ottawa Senators, winning 4–2. Their star center, Mika Zibanejad, scored only his 10th goal of the season to get the Rangers out ahead to start the game. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who the Avs will see on Saturday, stopped 25 of 27 shots on goal.
