The Colorado Avalanche continues its four-game road trip by taking on Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. For Ovechkin, it just might be the last time he faces off against the burgundy and blue.
For Colorado, they will look to keep the momentum of the road trip going. With the Dallas Stars still up their sleeve, wins need to keep coming.

Colorado Avalanche (45–13–10, 100 pts)
The Avs eclipsed 100 points with their all-business 4–1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night. The victory made them the first team to hit the century mark in points and to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Nathan MacKinnon led the way with three assists, while Valeri Nichushkin had a multi-point game and Martin Necas continued his dominance after the Olympic break.
Plus, more reinforcements could be on the way. One of Gabriel Landeskog, Ross Colton, Logan O’Connor, or Artturi Lehkonen could return. With Ivan Ivan being sent down, it could suggest just that. No matter who it is, they will make an immediate impact.
The Avs have reassigned Ivan Ivan to the Colorado Eagles. Over two games played Ivan totalled 12:53 TOI, -1 and had no SOG. The Eagles play tomorrow at 6pm in Loveland against Coachella Valley (SEA) #Avs #GoAvsGo #EaglesCountry pic.twitter.com/w4GlTghcee

Washington Capitals (35–27–8, 78 pts)
Washington is coming off a 2–1 win over the New Jersey Devils, also on Friday night. It was their second straight win after they bounced the Ottawa Senators 4–1 on Wednesday night.
This game against Colorado is the fourth game of a four-game home stand late in the season. Ovechkin and company will need a lot of work and help if they want to make the postseason.
To show how close and competitive the Eastern Conference is, their current standings would see the Caps in the playoffs if they were in the Western Conference. Can Ovechkin’s all-time leading scorers mark continue to increase en route to a third straight win?
