Right before the game on Sunday morning, the Colorado Avalanche announced that Gabriel Landeskog had suffered another injury. The Avalanche considers him week-to-week. What is concerning is that it is to the lower-body. The captain had missed three full seasons because of a knee injury. Landeskog had a cartilage knee transplant that cost him 246 games.

Injuries this year
Landeskog has already missed time this season with an upper body-injury. He caught hist toe-pick of his skate and slammed his chest into the goal post on January 4th in Florida. The injury kept the Swede out for 14 games and put his Olympic dreams in jeopardy. Up to the beginning of the Olympics, it was a question of whether he was going to play. Landeskog would put up two goals and two assists in five games for the Swedes during the tournament.

This season for the Avs
This season for the Avalanche, Landeskog has been the difference. He has nine goals and 20 assists, but his leadership has been vital. Colorado has maintained a 6–6–2 without Landeskog in the lineup. With him in the lineup, the Avalanche have only lost four games in regulation.
Kadri trade makes sense
If the Avalanche knew about Landeskog’s injury before the trade deadline, the Nazem Kadri trade now makes more sense. Without Landeskog in the lineup, the Avalanche are less of a threat offensively. Kadri could help make up for the gap in the offense that there would be. Kadri could fill the gap that Landeskog leaves on the faceoff dot as well.
Based in the video below the injury is from the shot on Friday off Cale Makar’s stick. He just just has to wait for swelling to go down in that….area in order to return to action on the ice. But this is devastating for the captain and for fans alike. Landeskog was doing so well, and we can only hope that it is not his knee.
