The Quebec Nordiques took on the Montreal Canadiens for the first time since April 26, 1995. The game came out in a 1–1 tie, but that was not the case on Saturday afternoon, where the Nordiques won 7–2. It was a game that was 30 years in the making and had some beautiful uniforms to go with it. Quebec didn’t let up until the third period, where head coach Jared Bednar gave some mercy on the power play.

Gabriel Landeskog has returned to his previous form. Landeskog didn’t score any goals in the first 16 games of the season. This was for various reasons, of course. He was getting his legs back, and he had multiple goals reversed. In these recent nine contests, the Captain displayed dominant form, securing five goals plus three assists. He is back to doing screens in front of the net and redirects like he did on his second goal on Saturday afternoon. Landeskog had his first multi-goal game since February 25, 2022, against the Winnipeg Jets.

Colorado still has not lost a game in regulation and at home this season. Their previous regulation loss happened in Boston on the 25th of October. The Avalanche are also +48 on their goal differential. They are the only team in the NHL over 20 with the Tampa Bay Lightning at +19. We last saw numbers like this during the 2021–22 season, the same year that they won the Stanley Cup and ended the season at +54.
