The Colorado Avalanche have assigned forward Gavin Brindley to the Colorado Eagles.

Brindley was a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2023, selected 34th overall. Brindley is a high-speed player who excels on the defensive side of the puck. He’s a strong forechecker who’s scrappy along the boards and not afraid to stand up for his teammates.

In the 2024–25 season, Brindley played 52 games for the AHL Cleveland Monsters (CBJ), scoring six goals and eleven assists in that time. The Avalanche acquired him from the Blue Jackets on June 27, 2025, along with a 2025 third-round pick and a conditional 2027 second-round pick, in exchange for Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood. He signed a two-year entry-level contract extension with Colorado on November 11, 2025. He’s been a formidable force on the Avalanche’s fourth line so far this season, scoring six goals and seven assists in 56 games.

Brindley is expected to be a formidable force for the Eagles, who are fighting to maintain their playoff spot. They currently sit in second place in the AHL’s Pacific Division, three points behind the Ontario Reign (LAK) and only two points ahead of the San Jose Barracuda (SJS). Although they started the season out strong, they’ve struggled in 2026. Since January 1, they have a record of 16–10–5–4. Their power play has been strong at home at 26.7 percent. But on the road, it’s been much weaker at only 13 percent. They’ve also struggled with multiple injuries lately, including forwards Chase Bradley, Matthew Stienburg, and Nikita Prishchepov.

Brindley will be a valuable addition to the Eagles’ power-play units in addition to their penalty kill. On top of that, Brindley will gain much-needed ice time while in the American League. When he was with the Avalanche, he hardly ever broke five or six minutes per game. With the Eagles, Brindley could earn top-line minutes. Brindley will probably be on the short list for call-ups too. He is waiver exempt and has played 56 games with the big club, so he will probably be their go-to guy for wingers.
